Linda Jean Cowan Obituary

 

Linda Jean Cowan, 79, of Aracoma, WV, departed this life on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at her residence, following a long illness.

Miss Cowan or “Miss C” as the EMTs would call her, was born on May 7, 1943, at Holden Hospital. She was a 1962 graduate of Aracoma High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Floyd and Creola (Wilson) Cowan; sisters: Annie Verzetta (Cowan) Coleman and Ernestine (Cowan) Holmes; brothers: Floyd Jr., and Ricky Cowan; nephews: Jeffrey and Dewayne Coleman; nieces: Melissa and Thelma Coleman; and special friends: Osie Lipscomb, Barbara Brown, Claudia Crawford, Marilyn & Clarence Evans.

Those left to cherish her memory are one brother: Donald (Constance) Calloway of Indianapolis, Indiana; nephews: Harlan Coleman of Charleston, WV, Charles (Tonia) Coleman of Morgantown, WV, and Brian Copley of Elkview, WV; nieces: Linda Sue Williams of Huntington, WV, Alvernita Coleman of Charleston, WV, Tracey Coleman of Charlotte, NC, Latisha and Sarita Holmes of Cleveland, OH, and Lavern Higgins also of Cleveland, OH; step-niece: Barbara Boatwright of Logan, WV and step-nephew: Robert West of Charlotte, NC. Along with special niece: Debbie Copley. She had many great-nephews and nieces, and great great-nephews and nieces as well.

Special relatives include: Alan (Marsha) White of Winston-Salem, NC; Denise Camphor of California, Tony White and Lisa Roundtree, Mary (Edward) Parks of Cleveland, OH, Paul (Barbara) Coleman of Miami, FL, Robert (Bobbie) Coleman of Abilene, TX, and Angie (Rayshaun) Holman of Euclid, OH; special friends: Elise and Trisha Vance of Logan, WV, Ardith Messer of Crawley Creek, WV, Diana (Rick) Ball of Phico, WV, Tish Copley of Chapmanville, WV, Tommy Adkins of Myra, WV, Barney (Terrie) Goins of Logan, WV, Gloria (Pete) Williams Kelly of Logan, WV, and Mark Hatcher of Logan, WV.

Per her wishes, Miss Cowan will be cremated and there will be no services. The family and friends will have a gathering at a future time to honor her life.

A special thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, Walgreens Pharmacy, EMTs, and anyone else that cared for and befriended her over the years. The family truly appreciates the dedication and service to our beloved Linda from the bottom of our hearts.
