Lillie Simpkins Obituary

 

Lillie Mae Simpkins, 104, of Central City, KY, formerly of Henlawson, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 4, 2021, leaving from her earthly home.

Born November 21, 1916, in Wayne County, WV, she was the daughter of the late George and Jane Nester Webb.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Willie Seth Simpkins; three sons: John (Mary) Simpkins, Steve Simpkins, and Delmer Simpkins; one daughter, Genevieve Simpkins Blackburn; five brothers; and two sisters.

Lillie Mae was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was very devoted to her family. She loved spending time with her family and going to church. A devoted Christian for many years, she was a faithful member of the Henlawson Freewill Baptist Church. She also attended many different churches throughout the Logan County area as well. Lillie Mae had an infectious smile and always enjoyed laughing and being a jokester. She will be missed by her family and all of those who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory are six daughters: Lola Ferguson of Flat Gap, KY, Bonnie (Joe) Fleece of Bell Center, OH, Phyllis Nelson of Logan, WV, Mary Mefford of Bremen, KY, Diane (Edward) Dean of Central City, KY, and Deloris Nelson (Ransom Wolford) of Henlawson, WV; three sons: Orie Simpkins of Verdunville, WV, William “Bill” (Lynda) Simpkins of Burton, MI, and Bruce (Betty) Simpkins of Henlawson, WV; 43 grandchildren and 7 generations of great-grandchildren. Additionally, Lillie Mae also leaves behind her church family along with a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel in Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Joey Kennedy officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV. Pallbearers will be: Donnie Blackburn, Randy Blackburn, Greg Blackburn, Steve Smith, Ransom Wolford, and Raymond Simpkins.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Chapmanville, WV.
