Lee Wheatley, 72, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, from St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, WV.
Born March 11, 1948, at Boone County, WV, he was a son of the late Ira and Myrl Fowler Wheatley.
Lee worked as a coal miner and had 38 years in the Union. He was a member of the U.M.W.A. - Local 17. Lee was an avid tradesman and had many trading buddies. If he could find someone to make a trade deal with, he was a happy camper. Aside from his love of trading, his greatest love was spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Helen Jean Wheatley; one son, Tony (Ronda) Wheatley of Chapmanville, WV; one special grandson, Tony Lee (Brittany) Wheatley of Chapmanville, WV; one great-grandson, Jaxson Wheatley; four sisters: Anna Jean Campbell of Monroe, MI, Velma Dean Campbell of Hilliard, OH, Christine (Roger) Collins of Danville, WV, and Kay (Gary) Jarrell of Uneeda, WV. Additionally, he leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel in Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Jeff Mosteller officiating.
Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park at Turtle Creek, Danville, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
