Laura Vaughan Obituary

 

Laura Queen Vaughan, 97, peacefully passed away August 14, 2021, at Logan Regional Medical Center in Logan, WV.

She was born November 24, 1923, to the late Winchester and Nancy Adkins Queen.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of forty-eight years, Homer W. Vaughan; one beloved son, Lawrence Homer Vaughan; one great-grandson, Tyler Harrison; and ten brothers and sisters.

Laura retired from Logan Auto Parts in 1986. Laura enjoyed cooking for her family and friends from a very early age. She always enjoyed get-togethers with family and friends. She worked as “Rosie the Riveter” in Cleveland, Ohio, making fuselages in the B29 airplanes used during WWII. She was the oldest living member of the Central United Baptist Church, having taken membership in 1969.  

Laura is survived by her three daughters, Janice Osborne (Richard) and Debbie Harrison (Chuck) all of Logan, WV, and Judy Hill (Scott) of Winston Salem, NC; one daughter-in-law, Jody Vaughan of Parkersburg, WV; six grandsons, Lawrence Vaughan, Jamie Harrison, Sean Osborne, Steven Osborne, Jamie  Thompson, and Chris Vaughan; three granddaughters, Dara Lea Martin, Ashley Curry, and Amanda Wilson; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; one special friend of many years, Marlene Justice and her family and her wonderful neighbors, Donsil and Betty Mullins who always checked in on her and cooked some of her favorite foods from time to time. Additionally, Laura also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.

The Vaughan family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the care of their mother to Dr. Billy Mullen and his staff and also the 5th floor nursing staff at Logan Regional Medical Center and employees of Trinity Healthcare Services of Logan, WV. A very special thank you to her wonderful caregivers and friends, Glenna and Bonnie.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at the Central United Baptist Church in Logan, WV, with Pastor Randy Skeens officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV. Deacons of the church will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Chapmanville, WV.
