Larry "Wimpy" Meade, 85, of Buffalo, WV, was born on February 9, 1937, and raised in West Logan, WV. He went to be with the Lord for his heavenly reward on November 25, 2022. The son of the late Virgil & Gertie Meade of West Logan, WV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Laine Darren Meade, sister, Sherry Dawn Meade, brother, Ernest Freeman Meade and grandson, Andrew Howard Williamson.
His spirit is carried on by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Lynn Meade. 1 brother, Ted R Meade. His 6 children: Larry Grose, Lindley Hanson, Sherri E. Meade, Alisa L. Meade, Lara D. Meade and Terri L. Shriver (Jaxson Shriver) 8 grandsons: Jordan L. Williamson, Jarod M. Gordon (Kristen Gordon), Trevor B. Meade, Tanner B. Meade, "DJ" R. Leake, Elijah L. Meade, Dalton J. Meade, Michael B. Meade 3 great grandsons: Luke M.Gordon, Beau D. Williamson, Brodhi R. Williamson, 1 great- granddaughter, Willow J. Meade, and he leaves behind his loyal dog and friend Bella. Many nieces and nephews and extended family & friends from throughout his life too numerous to list but not forgotten.
Wimpy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Buffalo in Buffalo, WV. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. The majority of his life was surrounded by sports. In high school Wimpy was a standout Basketball player for Logan High School. Graduating with the class of 1955. Wimpy also played in an independent men's basketball league and played on a State champion and Nationally known men's fast pitch softball team. After this, he continued to dedicate his time and talents to the Logan County girls’ softball program for over 2 decades. Wimpy volunteered as a coach (also as a pitching coach in several counties), mentor, & father figure to many. After his girls finished their years of playing softball Wimpy's passion became golf. He spent his retired years at the Logan Country Club either working or enjoying the opportunity to golf and spend time with all his friends. Years later, Wimpy relocated to Putnam County to spend and enjoy remaining years with his daughters and grandchildren.
Friends and Family can come celebrate his life on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV, with Pastor Robb Webb officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior at the funeral home on Saturday.
The family would like to welcome those who attend the services to wear blue and gold, if they wish, in honor of Wimpy’s love for his hometown of Logan.
To honor Wimpy’s wishes, his remains have been cremated.
