Larry O. Lucas, Sr., 72, of Harts, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, leaving from his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Born May 16, 1949, at Hamlin, WV, he was the son of the late Lucian Lucas, Sr., and Blanche McNeely Lucas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by parents-in-law, John and Dorothy Brumfield; two brothers-in-law, Zeke Dingess and Gary Bryant; and one sister-in-law, Faye Brumfield.
Larry was a coal miner and a member of the U.M.W.A. He loved driving his tractor trailer cross-country. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed farming, raising cows, and working on his tractor. “Pappy” loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Larry was also a U.S. Veteran, having served in the Army. A devout Christian, Larry was a faithful member of the High Adventure Church at Harts, WV.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Linda Brumfield Lucas; two sons, Larry (Kellie) Lucas, Jr., and Lonnie (Amy) Lucas; three grandchildren, J.R. Lucas, Lara Lucas, and Lonna Lucas; two brothers, Elmer (Debbie) Lucas and Lucian (Bobbi) Lucas, Jr.; two sisters, Janice (Bill) Kirk and Phyllis Bryant; three sisters-in-law, Connie Dingess, Francie (Bob) Renner, and Ethel (Ronnie) Fleming; one brother-in-law, Willard Brumfield. Additionally, Larry leaves behind many special nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 1, 2022, at the High Adventure Church at Harts, WV, with Pastor Bill Mitchell and Bro. Shawn Renner officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lucas Mountain View Cemetery at Ranger, WV. Military Graveside Rites will be observed. Larry’s nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Baisden, Mike Vannatter, Ancil Stollings, Tommy Dempsey, Mike Vance, and Darrell Farris.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
