Larry Dale Adkins, 69, of Omar, WV, departed this life on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, WV.
He was born April 24, 1955, at Logan, WV, the son of the late Bernie and Evelyn Trent Adkins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bernie Adkins, Jr.; one sister, June Lawson; and his furever friend, Put Put.
Larry worked in mining repair. His dedication to his craft made him a respected figure in the mining community. Beyond his professional achievements, Larry was an avid outdoorsman. He possessed a strong passion for hunting and fishing. His love and knowledge of the great outdoors was matched by his skill in dog trading, an interest that made him a celebrity at the Trading Post. Above all, Larry was a family man. He was a devoted father, always eager to spend time with his children. He was also a loving grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his memory will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Larry (Amy) Adkins, Sabrina (Nick) Osborne, Matthew (Jennifer) Adkins, and April Adkins; his grandchildren, Thomas (Jade) Adkins, Dalin (Kylie) Adkins, Ryan Adkins, Daniel Adkins, Lillee Adkins, Jada Sigmon, Danni Adkins, Xander Osborne, and Cheyenne Osborne; his great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Blake Adkins; his wife, Virginia Adkins; his siblings, Carolyn Adkins, Frankie (Sam) Maynard, and Sandra Stapleton; special friends, Bodine Spence, John Lowe, and Steve Kelly. Additionally, Larry leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Monahill Memorial Freewill Baptist Church at Monahill with Pastor Joseph Vance officiating.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the church.
To honor Larry’s wishes, his remains will be cremated.
