Kim "KC" Carrere Obituary

Kim "KC" Carrere, 65, of Logan passed away peacefully on November 22, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones, after a tough and courageous battle with cancer.

Kim was born on June 23, 1957, in Logan, WV to William "Ghi-Ghi" and Dorthy Carrere. He grew up in Logan County, graduating from Logan High School in 1975. He married Robbin Bailey in August 1976, and they relocated to Winder, GA in 1977. The couple had 4 children together—Joey, Kelli, Kalyn & Jonah.

Kim was fiercely passionate about music from the start and dedicated his life to both his family and his pursuit of music. Over the years, Kim had been a part of countless bands and played for thousands of people in venues across the United States. He loved sharing his talents of singing, songwriting and guitar-playing to all who would listen.

Kim moved back to Logan in 2009 to be close to his parents, whom he loved deeply. He met the love of his life, Melissa "Missy" Curry, in October 2011. Their beautiful journey began the moment he asked her to dance with him to “Wonderful Tonight”. Kim and Missy married in September 2022; as a result, he gained two sons, Preston and Nickolas. Kim and Missy were together for a total of 11 wonderful years.

Kim was a member of the Logan First Baptist Church. He loved the church and sharing the love and warmth of our savior, Jesus Christ, with as many people as possible. In the midst of his battle with pancreatic cancer, his faith never wavered; he glorified the Lord at every turn.

Kim held many titles throughout his life, but his favorite was "grandfather". His 15 grandchildren (and one great granddaughter) affectionately called him “Papa”, and he bragged about them to anyone and everyone at every chance.

One of the kindest souls on this planet, Kim was a gentle and giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family and friends were taken care of. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, share himself and evoke that same spirit of love in every person he knew. He was a stubborn force to be reckoned with—an advocate for being unapologetically yourself and doing what you want. He was compassionate, witty, reliable and fearless. He was truly one-of-a-kind.

Kim joins his brother, Chris Carrere, and countless friends in heaven. He is survived by his parents, William "Ghi-Ghi" and Dorthy Carrere; his wife, Melissa Lynn Carrere; his loving big brother, Earnie Carrere; his sister-in-law, Lisa Carrere; his children, Joey (and Debbie) Carrere, Kelli Carrere Raines, Kalyn (and Terry) Thomas, Jonah Carrere, Preston Curry, and Nickolas Browning; his grandchildren, Courtland, Joe, Trenton (and Aly), Rachel, Niclaus, Isabella, Sophia, Braxton, Giuliana, Adrianna, Alessandra, Olivia, Lauren, Rowan, and Graysen; his great granddaughter, Taytum; his niece and nephews, Kasey (and Randy) Okolichany, Ryan Cremeans, and Johnathan Hubert; his cousins, Cathy Mariano Manuel, Patty Mariano Rushden, Frankie Lee Workman, and numerous other cousins; and a myriad of lifelong friends.
