Kent Edward Justice, 70, of Chapmanville, WV, died peacefully at home on Sunday, October 15, 2023, due to complications from a lung transplant.
He was born September 20, 1953, at Logan, WV, the son of the late Stanley and Ada Lou Ferrell Justice.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael Kent Justice; one brother, Richard “Rick” Justice; one brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Workman; and one canine companion, Max.
Kent was a 1971 graduate of Chapmanville High School, where he played football. He was co-owner of Workman’s IGA and Branchland IGA. He was a meat cutter by trade. Kent never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. His hobbies included working outside, piddling in the garage on his antique tractor, and driving on every backroad and shortcut just to see where it would go. He loved camping at “Camp KentaRhonda” on the Greenbrier River.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife and best friend of 50 years, Rhonda Workman Justice; two daughters, Jennifer (Brandon) Gorrell and Kellie (Chris) Blanchard; grandchildren, Jacob Justice, Katelin Gorrell, Jackson Gorrell, Elizabeth Blanchard, and Alexandra Blanchard; two sisters, Kathy (Greg) Dalton and Justina (Ron) Wellman; his parents-in-law, Robert (Sylvia) Workman; two sisters-in-law, Velma Workman and Elizabeth Mathis; one daughter-in-law, Charlene Justice; one canine companion, Buster; two special nephews, Chris Workman and Derek Dalton; along with several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
The Justice family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Cleveland Clinic who took exceptional care of him, as well as his primary doctor, William Mullen.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV, with Ron Wellman, Rev. John E. Godby, and Greg Dalton officiating.
Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, WV. Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Gorrell, Chris Blanchard, Chris Workman, Derek Dalton, Chad Phipps, and Nick Egnor. Wendell Adams will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Evans Funeral Home.
