Kenneth Dow Simpson, 78, of Man, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 30, 2025, leaving from CAMC General Hospital in Charleston, WV, with family by his side.
He was born August 29, 1947, at Greenville, a son of the late Dow and Juanita Belle “Nee” Simpson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Roy and Ruby Blankenship; his paternal grandparents, Columbus and Mary Simpson; his parents-in-law, Art and Louella Toler; and a very special aunt, Clara Sue “Sis” Vance.
Kenny’s career as a coal miner was marked by his tireless work ethic. He spent many years working on strip jobs, where his expertise as a blaster was highly respected. His commitment to his work was as steadfast as his commitment to his country, having honorably served in the United States Army. A devout Christian, Kenny was a pillar of the Lighthouse Community Church in Kopperston, WV, and his faith was a guiding light not only for him but also for those who knew him.
Beyond his professional and spiritual life, Kenny’s interests were a reflection of his vibrant spirit. He had an impressive collection of model cars. His love for speed and competition extended to his favorite pastimes of watching NASCAR and NFL games, as well as the thrill of drag racing. These activities brought him immense joy and were often shared with friends and family, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Family was the cornerstone of Kenny’s life. He loved spending time with his loved ones, especially his grandbabies, whose achievements and milestones were his greatest pride. Cheering on his grandsons at their sporting events was a source of happiness for Kenny. His support and enthusiasm from the sidelines were as steadfast as his presence in their lives. Kenny will long be remembered for his unwavering faith, dedication to family, and passion for life's simple pleasures.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara “Bee” Simpson; two sons, Kenny (Angie) Simpson and Jody (Carrie) Simpson; one daughter, Casey (Mike) Conley; five grandchildren, Jordan (Becca) Simpson, Cameron (Gracie) Simpson, Sierra (Trace) Fekete, Dakota Simpson, and Austin Simpson; two step-grandsons, Christian (Carly) Toler and Colton Toler; five great-grandchildren, Cambreigh, Payton, Madi, Parker, and Scottie Kaye Simpson; and three brothers, Eddie (Phyllis) Simpson; Mike (Nancy) Simpson, and Jerry (Tammy) Simpson. Additionally, Kenny leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.
