Judy Gay Adkins, 76, of Danville, WV, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, at CAMC General Hospital in Charleston, WV.
She was born November 14, 1948, at Logan, WV, a daughter of the late William Adkins and Matilda Rose Henson Adkins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Jaxton Gage Dean; five brothers, Ed Adkins, Jimmy Adkins, Bill Adkins, Rev. Roy Adkins, and Rev. Johnny Adkins; and five sisters, Bertha Dulcee, Carolyn Canterbury, Linda “Susie” Adams, Goldie Adkins, and Erma Adkins.
Judy's life was a testament to the power of hard work, both in her professional endeavors and in the nurturing of her family. Her commitment to family was the cornerstone of her life, and her love for her family knew no bounds. Throughout her life, Judy was known for her impeccable sense of style. She took great pride in getting her hair and nails done, seeing these moments not just as routine appointments but as cherished rituals that brought her joy and confidence. Her elegance and grace were evident to all who knew her, and her presence was a source of comfort and inspiration. Judy also delighted in shopping and gift giving. She leaves behind a legacy of joy, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Nikki Preece and Johnna Dean; her grandchildren, Ashlee Neece (Cliff), Amber Lynn Neece, Justin Coti Taylor (Tiffany), Jordan Trey Taylor (Mallorie), and Jarryn Myka Adkins (Adam); her great-grandchildren, Michael Cayden Sutherland (Makala), Cash Conrad Sutherland, Becca Nikkole Neece, Ava Taylor, Lacie Taylor, Krew Taylor, Amara Lucille Guess, and Grayson Hall; one great-great-granddaughter, Poppy Jade; and one sister, Doris Browning. Additionally, Judy leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.
To honor Judy’s wishes, her remains will be cremated, and there will be no services.
