Juanita Davis, 91, of Chapmanville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, leaving from CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 19, 1932, at Grundy, VA, a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Thompson Vance.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, James Ellsworth Davis; one daughter, Loretta Kay Davis; one son-in-law, Lyle Wade Cline; two grandsons, Walter Wesley Cline and Charles E. “Chuckie” Davis; two brothers, James Vance and Junior Vance; three sisters, Irene McNeely, Helen Scaggs, and Mayola Whisenhunt; and her parents-in-law, Walter G. and Ruth Davis.
Juanita was the former owner of Juanita's Colony Shop in Chapmanville. A devoted Christian, her love for the Lord was the cornerstone of her life. Her dedication to her faith was evident to all who knew her, as she was a dedicated member of Garrett Chapel, where she joyfully sang in the choir, one of her greatest blessings. Beyond her devotion to the church, Juanita was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her happiest moments were those spent surrounded by her beloved family. She was an overwhelmingly loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
An avid gardener, Juanita found joy in tending to her flowers. Vacationing at Smith Mountain Lake was one of Juanita's greatest pleasures. She will long be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her generous heart, and the profound impact she left on those fortunate enough to have known her. Juanita’s legacy is one of love, faith, and the beauty of a life well-lived, and she will be deeply missed by her family, her friends, and all the lives she touched.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Cathy Lynn Cline of Shelbyville, KY, Ellsworth (Yvonne) Davis, and Mark (Tammy) Davis both of Chapmanville, WV; her grandchildren, Travis Cline, Casey (Mary Beth) Cline, April Dawn Hooker, Roger Hooker, Jr., James Bradley Davis, Christopher Allen Davis, Rebecca (Aaron) Price, and Mark (Alyssa) Davis, Jr.; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
