Johnny MacArthur “Johnny Buck” Baisden, Jr., 53, of Verdunville, WV, departed this life on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at CAMC General Hospital in Charleston, WV, following a brain injury.
He was born May 28, 1970, in Logan, WV, to Alice Ferguson Baisden of Verdunville, WV, and the late Johnny MacArthur “Big John” Baisden.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lucian and Florence Baisden.
Johnny was a 1988 graduate of Logan High School where he was a football player. He attended and graduated from Northwest Iowa School of Taxidermy and Matuska Taxidermy in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He was the former owner and taxidermist of Baisden Taxidermy. Johnny lived many years in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where he was an ironworker and a member of the Ironworkers Union #396 in St. Louis, Missouri. He loved the outdoors, NASCAR racing, ATV riding, and football.
Johnny is survived by his mother, Alice Baisden of Verdunville, WV; one sister, Ednamarie Baisden of Verdunville, WV; one niece, Nalyn Cheyenne (Dex) Carver of Rum Creek, WV; one great-niece, Sailor Carver of Rum Creek, WV; one aunt, Shirley Baisden of Verdunville, WV; three uncles, Jack (Sue Ann) Baisden and Tennis (Annetta Daniels) Baisden both of Verdunville, WV, and Jerry (Maria) Baisden of Myrtle Beach, SC; and one special friend who was like a brother, Punk Meade. Additionally, Johnny leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2024, at Maryetta United Baptist Church at Verdunville, WV, with Pastor Lonnie Gore, Jr., officiating.
Burial will follow in the Baisden Family Cemetery at Verdunville, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the church.
