Johnie Lee Gore Obituary

 

Johnie Lee Gore, 78, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by his family.


He was born March 4, 1946, at Logan, WV, a son of the late Johnie and Elizabeth Hanna Gore.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Linda Sue Propst Gore; and one sister-in-law, Janet Gore.


Johnie made his living as an electrician in the coal mines for 40 years. He was a 1964 graduate of Logan High School and a longtime resident of Monaville. A proud United States Army Veteran, Johnie served in the Vietnam War where he was a E-6 Staff Sergeant. During his time in the military, he had the honor of flying the famous Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopter along with being a right gunner and crew chief. Johnie was also a member of the U.M.W.A. for 13 years.


He is survived by one daughter, Tannis Gore; one son, Johnathan (Candice) Gore; his grandchildren, Sydnie Bennahmias, Christopher Gore, Emma G. Adams, and Callen Gore; one great-grandson, Leon Bennahmias; one sister, Maxine (Jerry) Dotson; and one brother, Dale Gore. Additionally, Johnie leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.


To honor Johnie’s wishes, his remains will be cremated, and there will be no services.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Gore family at 1006 Garrett Fork Rd., Chapmanville, WV 25508. 


Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Chapmanville, WV.
