John Szucs, 92, of Stollings, WV, departed this life on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, WV.

He was born October 12, 1932, a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Frencz Szucs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cecile Hicks Szucs; one son, Randy Szucs; one brother, Joe Szucs; three sisters, Julie, Betty, and Mary; and one sister-in-law, Carol.

Mr. Szucs was a retired electrician, having worked in the coal industry. He also proudly served 4 years in the United States Air Force. His love for the outdoors was unmatched as he was an avid fisherman, fishing in several professional bass tournaments throughout the years.

Those left to cherish his memory are two sons, John D. (Donna) Szucs and Larry (Pam) Szucs; his daughter-in-law, Sharon Szucs; one brother, Alex Szucs; his grandchildren, Jason Szucs, Jodi (Matt) Stollings, and John David Szucs; his great-grandchildren, Morgan Stollings, Gavin Stollings, Brandon Szucs, and Xander Szucs; and three special friends, Jimmy Clay, Arvel Gartin, and James Messer. Additionally, John leaves behind his nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Jimmy Fortune officiating.

Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
