Jesse Howard Ferguson, 82, of Ranger, WV, formerly of Pecks Mill, WV, passed from this life on April 3, 2024, at Logan Regional Medical Center in Logan, WV.
Jesse was born May 4, 1941, to George W. Ferguson and Vetaline (Hager) Ferguson. He was a graduate of Logan High School. He married (Erma) Patty Puckett, and they spent many happy years together until her passing in 2018.
Jesse was a machine operator by trade and worked at Guyan Machinery, KenWest, and his own business, First Rate Machine Work.
Over the years, Jesse was an active volunteer with both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, serving as a leader and also teaching primitive camping skills and archery.
Jesse was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed archery, hunting, and fishing. He was also an accomplished photographer.
Jesse was a teller of tall tales and had a great sense of humor. He never missed a chance to play a practical joke or make someone laugh.
His kind heart and genuine caring for others will be remembered by those who knew him best, for he truly never met a stranger.
Jesse is survived by his children, Jessica Ferguson of North Tonawanda, NY, and Martin (Marlena) Ferguson of Ranger, WV; his grandchildren, Casey Copeland, Dace Eneix, Chris (Angie) Ziegler, Tom Ziegler, Robert (Mackinzie) Ferguson, Martin Ferguson, II, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation and services will take place on April 8, 2024, at noon at Evans Funeral Home at Chapmanville, WV, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Barney Goins officiating.
