On the evening of July 15, 2024, Jesse Browning, 95, went home to be with our Lord. He was born on June 30, 1929, to the late Paris and Elizabeth “Lizzy” (Thornhill) Browning. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pearl (Messer) Browning.
Preceding him in death, along with his parents, were his brothers, Woodrow, Kelly, Truman, Charlie, and Wayne, and his sisters, Elsie Lackey, Pearl Messer, Nancy Baily, and Emma Hannah.
Left to cherish his memory, along with his wife Pearl, are his children, Jesse Jr., Olene Stephens, Nell (the late Ronald “Bones”) Epling, Roland (Lori), and Lewis “Happy” (Annette).
Jesse was blessed with 13 grandchildren, April, Heather (Robert) Mattingly, Benny (Buffy) Maynard, Shepell Dunmore, Daniel Stephens, Kristel (Paul) Sargent, Zechariah (Tish) Stephens, Darrell (Rachael) Epling, Lynn (Scott) Harper, Justin (Angiy), Greg (Ashley), Alexis, and Aundrea; 34 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren, many extended family members, and special friends, Lynal (Margie) Conley.
Jesse was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the Central United Baptist Church of Logan, WV and attended many local churches on Wednesday evenings. Jesse started each morning shootin’ the breeze with friends over coffee at Jamie’s, then spent most days farming and gardening. He was an avid gardener and supplied many with fresh vegetables. He was often a wise guy with a smile that could light up a room.
