Jason Eric Nelson

Jason Eric Nelson, 45, of Dingess, WV, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Belfry, KY.

He was born April 7, 1978, at Logan, WV, to Frank and Jo Ann Workman Nelson.

Jason was preceded in death by his wife, Jessica Marcum Nelson; his paternal grandparents, Lawrence “Shondo” and Daisey Nelson; his maternal grandparents, Herbert and Fannie Bell Workman; aunts, Georgia Starr, Geneva Wilson, Brookie Prince, Tina “Tiny” Nelson, and Glenna Workman Hodge; uncles, Roby Dillon, Howard Dillon, Roscoe Dillon, Lawrence “Pokie” Nelson, Jess Nelson, Paul Nelson, Herbert Allen Workman, and Dennis Workman.

Jason was employed by EMF at Chattaroy, WV, as a machinist. He was a 1996 graduate of Tug Valley High School, where he received high honors. In his spare time, Jason loved to play guitar and take his children camping at Carter Caves. He also enjoyed hiking and going to the beach.

In addition to his parents, Jason is survived by his two children, Jacob Nelson and Emily Nelson; one stepdaughter, Autumn; two brothers, Frank (Susan) Nelson, Jr., and Timothy (Susanna) Nelson; nieces and nephews, Kristen Grimmett, Brody Grimmett, Parker Nelson, Tianna Nelson, and Cydnee Nelson; aunts, Marie Nunley, Pat Davis, Geraldine Maynard, Mary Perry, Lillian Tomblin, and Sherry Hodges; uncles, Fredrick Workman and Darrell Workman. Additionally, Jason leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.

To honor Jason’s wishes, his remains will be cremated and later interred in the Nelson Family Cemetery at Dingess, WV.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
