James E. “Jim” Ruggles, 75, of Peach Creek, WV, departed this life on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, WV.

He was born on May 4, 1948, at Corning, NY, the son of the late Lloyd and Margaret Barber Ruggles.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by five sisters, Barbara Jacobi, Elaine Radka, Gale Abbey, Shirley Kuttner, and Marjorie Simpson; and three brothers, Frank Ruggles, Lloyd “Ron” Ruggles, and Thomas “Tom” Ruggles.

Jim was a United States Army Veteran and served two tours in Vietnam. He was employed by CSX Transportation as a locomotive engineer for many years before his retirement. He was a devoted Christian and a very active member of the Crooked Creek Church of Christ. Jim will be remembered for his love and care of his family, friends, and his church family.

Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Cunningham Ruggles, along with many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Crooked Creek Church of Christ, where a celebration of life will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Ralph Perry officiating. Military services will follow.
