James White, Sr. Obituary

 

James L. White, Sr., 95, of Kistler, WV, changed his residence to his Heavenly Home on Sunday morning, January 17, 2021, from his current residence of Bruno, WV.

He was born on August 3, 1925, at Logan, WV, the son of the late Everett and May Martin White.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a loving wife of 57 years, Lillie Bell Queen White; three sons: Roland (Duke), Hugh Eric, and Joseph Edward White; one daughter, Pamela Blake White; one daughter-in-law, Vicky White; four brothers: Claudia, Carl, Virgil, and Chuck White; four sisters: Unis, Francis, Irene, and Chlorine; one grandson, Jackie White, Jr.; one step-grandson, Randy Vanover; and one great-great-grandchild, Salena Grimmett.

James was a member of Kistler Freewill Baptist Church and an attendee of the Bruno Church of God. He was a World War II Veteran, having served in both the Air Force and the Army in Germany. During his time in the service, he received the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal, two honors in which he was very proud. He was a coal miner for many years. James enjoyed working on vehicles with his sons. His hobbies included playing golf and bowling, and in prior years, as an avid outdoorsman, he was active in hunting and fishing.

Those left to cherish his memory are one brother, Frank (Carol) White of Huntington, WV; four sons: James L. (Lynda) White, Jr., of Oak Park, MI, Forrest (Nioka) White of Kistler, WV, Randy (Shannon) White of South Carolina, and Jackie L. (Patricia) White of Bruno, WV; five daughters: Linda (Bill) Simpkins of Burton, MI, Gayle (Phil) Norton of Florida, Nora (Bill) McNeil of Florida, Nina Homa of Ohio, and Rosa (Dewey) Ellis of Kistler, WV. The grandchildren include: Tracy, Daniel, Ressie, Adenia, and Sherry Simpkins, Stephanie, Tammy, and Phillip Norton, Billy, Todd, and Justin McNeil, Alex and Jennifer Ellis, Teddy, Maria, Charlott, and Forrest Jr., White, Shasta, Tiffany, and Jaime White, Randy and Roland White, Jennifer and Amanda White, Michael and Allison White; and one step-granddaughter, Jodi Grimmett. James also leaves behind a large blessing of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services will be conducted by Evans Funeral Home of Chapmanville, WV. Friends and family are invited to attend and exchange memories on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Frye officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV, with Military Graveside Rites being performed. Pallbearers will be: Jack White, Randy White, James White, Jr., Forrest White, Hose White, and Allen Grimmett.

Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
