James Lee Nelson

James Lee Nelson, 47, of Lake, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, from Logan Regional Medical Center in Logan, WV.

Born July 12, 1973, at Joliet, IL, he was the son of Cecilia June Frankum and the late John Paul Jones Nelson, Sr.

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his uncle, Wetzel Nelson.

James served as a board member of the Chapmanville Little League. An avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast, he enjoyed fishing and baseball. A loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, James devoted his life to spending time with his family and watching his kids on the ballfields.

In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Maggie Nelson; four sons, Christopher (Lexi Harris) Nelson, Jeffrey (Abby Roberts) Nelson, Trevon Nelson, and Braxton Nelson; three brothers, John Nelson, Daniel (Cynthia) Nelson, and Matthew (Kellie Vinson) Nelson; two nieces, Katherine (Chris Branham) Saylor and Victoria (Hank Atwell) Nelson; one nephew, Jonathon Nelson; one great niece, two great nephews, and one expecting great nephew. Additionally, James leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2021, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel in Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Tony Vance officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
