Jackie Lee Easterling, 82, of Harts, WV, went to his heavenly home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.

Born April 16, 1941, at Logan, WV, he was a son of the late William “Bill” and Kylista Yates Easterling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Taylor Easterling; one granddaughter, SarahBeth Shelton; two brothers, Harold Easterling and Jim Easterling; two sisters, Betty Bocook and Dorothy June Harris; and one son-in-law, John Smith, Sr.

Jack was a retired coal miner, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be remembered for his kindness and caring generosity along with his sense of humor.

He is survived by two daughters, Jackie Smith of Harts, WV, and Jennifer Preece (Dwight) of Chapmanville, WV; two grandchildren, Zachary Shelton of Chapmanville, WV, and Tiara Ferrell (Joshua) of Williamson, WV; four great-grandchildren, whom were his greatest joys, Danny and Abby Shelton of Harts, WV, and Justice and Journey Ferrell of Williamson, WV; and one brother, Tom Easterling (Karen) of Lancaster, OH. Additionally, Jack leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.

To honor Jack’s wishes, his remains will be cremated, and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date at the Frye Cemetery at Harts, WV.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
