Homer Lee Hensley

Homer Lee Hensley, 77, of Chapmanville, WV, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven to be forever in the presence of his Lord on November 17, 2023.

Homer was born May 29, 1946, to the late Anderson and Leuria Hensley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Wanda Hensley; brother, Lonnie “Zeke” Hensley; and two sisters, Dora Parker and Charlotte McCloud.

Homer became a Christian at 16 years old and was ordained as a minister in 1970. Since that time, he has lived his life for the Lord. Homer has Pastored at many churches throughout his life but has spent the last 13 years as Pastor of Elizabeth Baptist Church at Sod, WV. He enjoyed traveling for Camp Meetings and Revivals where he could worship and fellowship with old friends.  Homer loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his 3 children, Gary (Patrice) Hensley of Tampa, Florida, Sherry (Ancil Jr) Bell of Chapmanville, WV, and Allen Hensley of Chapmanville, WV; grandchildren, Brett Hensley of Darian, IL, and Brittany (Brandon) Gillum of Chapmanville, WV; brothers, Basil (Judy) Hensley of Indiana and Masil (Lynn) Hensley of Chapmanville, WV.  Homer also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and lifelong brothers and sisters in Christ from all across the country.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2023, at Evans Funeral Home. Services will be conducted Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Ruby, Rev. Kurt Dragoo, and Rev. Jody Pauley officiating.

Entombment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
