Hazel Lee Fields Obituary

Hazel Lee Fields, 102, of Aracoma, passed away peacefully at her home on January 29th, 2024.  She was married for 55 years to the late Deacon Welton Fields Sr who passed away in 1992.

Mrs. Fields was born March 17th, 1921, in Pulaski, Virginia to Clarence Mabe and Fannie Carroll Mabe.

Mrs. Fields and her mother moved to Logan County when she was very young.  She became a member of the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 126 Charles St, Logan, at the age of nine, where she was a faithful member and worshipper throughout her life.  Her funeral or Celebration of Life will be held at the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, February 9th at 11:00 AM.  The funeral will be preceded by a two-hour visitation period from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Guyan Memorial Gardens at Godby Heights.

She is survived by five of her children.  Reverend William T. Fields (Linda) Radcliff, Ky, Ms. Loretta Fields Foster (Guy-deceased) Ocala, FL, Reverend Dr. Welton Fields Jr. (Kay-deceased) Ocala, FL, Reverend Dr. Robert M. Fields (Kay) Myrtle Beach, SC, and Mr. Kenneth A. Fields (Debra) Holden, WV.  Eighteen grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, and a significant number of great-great-grandchildren (that’s five generations!), plus nephews, and nieces…too numerous to count.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Welton Fields Sr., her sons Alonzo W. Fields, and Clarence M. Fields, and her daughter Patricia Ann Fields Mixon.
