The feisty Hattie Lucille Sturgill, born on January 25, 1938, went home to her children, Jennifer Lynn Rogers and Donald Ray Rogers, Jr., on Sunday, November 26, 2023.
Hattie was well known in Riffe Branch as the place to go if you were hungry for biscuits and gravy or homemade apple pies.
Hattie was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Delphia (Mounts) Runyon. In addition to her parents and children, she was preceded in death by her husband, Zane Sturgill; and three brothers, Bill, James, and Grover Runyon.
Hattie is survived by one brother, Curt (Faye) Runyon; three sisters, Flora (Don) Goff, Irene (Kendall) Mounts, and Lois Newsome; and one step-daughter, Sue (Butch) Watkins.
Hattie was most proud of her three grandchildren, Jason (Kelly) Belcher, Joshua (Jennifer) Belcher, and Nichole Rogers, and great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Alyssa, Addy, Annaleise, and Raelynn.
The family would like to thank the staff at Trinity Healthcare Services for all of the love and care shown to Hattie and her family throughout the years, including FaceTime calls during the pandemic and beyond.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Evans Funeral Home at Chapmanville, WV.
Graveside services and burial will immediately follow in the Maynard Cemetery at Riffe Branch, Delbarton, WV.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
