Harry Dean Slater, 87, of Pecks Mill, WV, formerly of Switzer, WV, departed this life on Monday, October 25, 2021, from Trinity Healthcare Services of Logan, WV.
Born December 19, 1933, at Switzer, WV, he was the son of the late Chester and Martha Farley Slater.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Slater; one son, Stephen Slater; one daughter, Deana Slater; and one sister, Jean Mareske.
Harry owned and operated Mining Resisters at Cherry Tree, WV. He was a member of the Nighbert Memorial United Methodist Church at Logan, WV. A proud United States Veteran, Harry served in the Army. When he wasn’t working or at church, you could see him in his garage, restoring old cars, one of his favorite past times. Harry also loved antiques.
Harry is survived by two grandchildren, Tristan (Samitha) Morgan and Molly Morgan; two sisters, Mable Hale and Kay (Larry) Ascough; two brothers, Tommy (Peggy) Slater and Douglas “Mac” (Brenda) Slater; one great-grandson, Silas Morgan; and his son-in-law, Colvin Morgan. Additionally, Harry also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.
To honor Harry’s wishes, his remains have been cremated.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021, at the Nighbert Memorial United Methodist Church at Logan, WV.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Chapmanville, WV.
