Grace Elois Wellman, 83, of Chapmanville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 8, 2024. She went peacefully from the home of her son and daughter-in-law surrounded by family.
She was born on July 30, 1940, at home in Delbarton, WV. She was the daughter of the late Alice Estep Manns.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas “Tom” Wellman, one son, Gary Kevin McNeil, one sister, Ellarea Gilman, four brothers, Holly, Donald, Jackie, and Homer Manns, two grandchildren, Gary Michael McNeil and Lisa Thorpe.
She was a devout Christian and a devoted member of Parsley Bottom Freewill Baptist Church. She loved her husband Tom of 38 years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Kenneth Mike (Vicky) McNeil (who were caring for her) and Greg (Cathy) McNeil, one loving sister, Barbara Ann (Paul Ray) Davis, three step-daughters, Estel Diane Narvaez of Los Angeles, California, Mary (Jonathan) Elkins, and Thomasa “Te-Te” (Tony) Vance all of Chapmanville, ten grandchildren: Ashley McNeil, (who helped with her care in these last days), Kristie McNeil and Brian (Elizabeth) McNeil, David (Jordan) Narvaez, Geneva (Cory) Cook, Alyssia May, Benji May, Maria (David) DeRaimo, Lydia (Chris) Tipper, and Caleb (Olivia) Vance, a multitude of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, a best friend, Darlene Hatfield. Grace also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Evans Funeral Home in Chapmanville with son-in-law, Pastor Tony Vance and Bro. Bill Wooten officiating.
Burial will follow in the Kitchen-Wellman Cemetery at Phico, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for the public and 12:00 p.m. for the family on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Evans Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV.
