Gary Willard McGraw, 80, of Pecks Mill, WV, peacefully passed away at home on January 12th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born May 10th, 1943, in Logan, WV.  Gary was the son of the late Clyde McGraw and Minnie Stowers McGraw, both of Pecks Mill, WV.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Scott McGraw and Joe McGraw, and one sister, Judy Adkins.

Gary was a US Army veteran, serving from 1962-1967, and was a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA).  He worked at the Sharples Coal Company until his retirement as a Welder.  Gary loved the outdoors, and especially treasured time spent at his hunting camp, often surrounded by his family.   Gary was an avid “Coon Hunter,” spending many hours on a trail with his dogs. In later years, he loved spending time working in his garden. 

He is survived by his wife, Norma Nash McGraw, and children, Gary Lee (Carla) of Scott Depot, WV, Marcia (Mike) of Pikeville, NC, and Steven (Clintina) of Hurricane, WV; grandchildren, Andrew Chase (Karen) and Austin Chase, both of Pikeville, NC, and Abigail and Kaitlyn McGraw of Hurricane, WV; siblings: Donnie McGraw (Leola) of Proctorville, OH, Carol Harrison (Marshall) of Melbourne, FL, Frankie McGraw (Vella), and Becky Johnson all of Pecks Mill, WV, and Angie Hiers (Tim) of Yulee, FL. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 16th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Evans Funeral Home in Chapmanville, WV, with the service to follow at 12:00 p.m.   Rev. Roscoe Chafin and Rev. Rodney Robinette will be officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Godby, WV. 

The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to Frankie and Vella McGraw and Jimmy Adams for their help, love, and support to the family over the last months of his life.
