Garland “Buddy” Wooten, 71, of Mallory, WV, departed this life on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, WV.
He was born September 13, 1953, at Man, WV, a son of the late Homer Wooten and Mae Elizabeth Baker.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Davis Wooten; three sisters, Maria Wooten, Shirley Eldridge, and Betty Gibson; four brothers, Clyde Wooten, Walter “Oathar” Wooten, Robert “Mick” Peyton, and Charles “Dick” Peyton; two sons, Sambo Prince and Paul Prince; and two grandsons, Nollen Shumate and Junior Prince.
Affectionately known as “Buddy” to everyone, he never met a stranger. He was known for his communication skills, having the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone about anything. In his younger days, and especially whenever he was able, Buddy enjoyed camping and fishing. His greatest moments were spent with his family and friends whom he dearly loved.
Those left to cherish his memory are two sisters, Ann Ransom and Bonnie Bartram; one brother, Hobert “Porky” Wooten; three children, Tammy Prince, Amy (Shelton) Ellis, and Jack (Lisa) Prince; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Mallory Hollow Freewill Baptist Church at Mallory, WV, with Rev. Andrew Eldridge officiating.
Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Saturday at the church.
To honor Buddy’s wishes, he will be cremated following the services.
