Fred Allen May, 73, of Big Creek, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 21, 2022, leaving from his residence, surrounded by his family.
Born January 12, 1949, at Logan County, WV, he was the son of the late Waymouth and Princess Irene Duty May.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bob May; two sisters, Anna Jean Steele and Lillian Catone; and his parents-in-law, Robert and Wynona Thomas.
Fred worked as a coal miner for many years. He was a devout Christian and a member of the Gospel Truth Church at Stone Branch. A sports enthusiast, Fred was extremely athletic and loved playing sports. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed riding his side by side. A devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Fred loved his family and his grandbabies.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 47 years, Tammy Thomas May; his daughter, Heather Napier of Chapmanville, WV; his son, Freddie (April) May of Big Creek, WV; two granddaughters, Sylest (Myran) Copley of Chapmanville, WV, and Sydney (Dustin) Ball of Lake, WV; his great-grandchildren; Maxi and Myles Copley and Benjamin “Benji” Ball; his step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Chris “Bub” Adams, Riley, Karlie, and Charlie Adkins all of Big Creek, WV, Jasmin (Justin) Watson and Sawyer Watson all of Charleston, WV; one special brother, Don “Bud” (Sharon) May of Low Gap, NC; special nieces, Diane (Jack) Mullins and Lisa (John) Ellis all of Chapmanville, WV; one special nephew, Donnie May of Bluefield, WV. Additionally, Fred leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.
To honor Fred’s wishes, his remains will be cremated, and there will be no services.
