Eugene Hunter

Eugene Hunter, 86, of Gordon, WV, departed this life for his heavenly home on Sunday, October 29, 2023. 

Eugene was born to the late Phil and Ruby Deeds Hunter on August 6, 1937, at Bloomingrose, WV.

Eugene loved the Lord and was a member of Browns Branch Freewill Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and digging roots with his son. A family man, Eugene was very devoted to his family and took care of them until his passing.

In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his loving wife of more than 50 years, Ina Grace Hunter; and six sisters, Inez King, Violet King, Betty Cooley, Peggy Pauline Hunter, Shirley Stowers, and Phyllis Woods.

Eugene is survived by his son, David (Vicky) Hunter of Bob White, WV; granddaughters, Tiffany Ellison of Beckley, WV, and Tabitha Hunter of Orgas, WV; great-grandchildren, Kelcie Ellison and Gracie Ellison both of Beckley, WV, Waylon Brown, Cassidy Cline and Gracen Cline all of Greenview, WV.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Browns Branch Freewill Baptist Church at Gordon, WV, with Pastor Phil Rowe officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mid Ferrell Cemetery at Gordon, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
