Estel Eugene Murray, 79, of Chapmanville, WV, was called home to receive his heavenly reward Monday, August 5, 2024, in the early morning hours, surrounded by precious family and loved ones. He was born April 29, 1945, in Yolyn, WV, a son of the late Jess and Minnie Murray. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessie Murray, and a host of siblings.

Estel was a devoted Christian and member of Crawley Creek Freewill Baptist Church. One of his most sincere joys was singing about his Savior. Estel truly loved serving the Lord, and he never passed up the opportunity to share his testimony.

Estel enjoyed spending his free time on the golf course with some of his closest friends, making wonderful memories. He also felt a deep sense of pride cheering on those he loved and being the best “Pops” around.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kelly Huffman Murray; son, Samuel Murray; daughters, Christina Murray and Katie Murray; grandchildren, Timothy Murray and Alicia Horsley; great-grandson, Jameson Murray; special grandchildren, Josh Atwood, Daniel Atwood, Charity Atwood, Faith Conley; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home in Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Jerry Mann, Rev. Derek Dalton, and Bro. Greg Dalton officiating.

Burial services will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV. Pallbearers include Samuel Murray, Timothy Murray, Larry Mullins, Phil Farley, Philip Meade, Mack Bryant, Josh Hensley, and Tony Bell. Honorary pallbearers include Josh Atwood, Daniel Atwood, DJ Conley, and Jimmy Conley.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Evans Funeral Home in Chapmanville, WV.
