Erma Ann Matthews

Erma Ann Matthews, 89, of Chapmanville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 28, 2022, leaving from her residence following an extended illness.

She was born February 26, 1933, at Twelve Pole at Dingess, WV, the daughter of the late Ireland and Mildred Adams Mullins.

Erma was the owner and operator of the Candle Shoppe Florist in Chapmanville, WV, founded in 1974. In addition to designing flowers, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, and gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Matthews; her son, Mark Lawson; her grandson, Joshua Smith; and one brother, Bill Mullins.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Mickie (Emory) Smith; five grandchildren, April (Travis) Queen, Ashlee (Jason) Blankenship, Stacee (Troy) Stanley, Matthew (Jenna) Smith, and Markee (Claire LaGodna) Lawson; three great-grandchildren, Conner Queen and Cole and Crew Blankenship; five sisters, Mable Hatfield, Norma Griffin, Sue Kelly, Carol (Dick) Chapman, and Judy (Ural) Tomblin; and four brothers, Eldridge Mullins, Leo Mullins, Bob (Robin) Mullins, and Jim (Kim) Mullins. Erma also leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and countless friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Roscoe Chafin and Travis Queen officiating.

Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Evans Funeral Home at Chapmanville, WV, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home also.
