Ellery Burgess

Ellery Burgess, 79, of Logan, WV, departed this life on Friday, December 3, 2021, from Teays Valley Center at Hurriance, WV.

Born September 16, 1942, at Logan, WV, he was the son of the late Ezra and Margaret Fleming Burgess.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Kay Albright Burgess; one son, Timothy Burgess; one grandson, Damien Shade Burgess; and four brothers, John Burgess, Ernest Claude Burgess, Edward Burgess, and Bob Burgess.

Ellery worked as a carpenter, though he could have been considered a jack of all trades. He was a devoted Christian and of the Church of God faith. When he was able, he loved golfing. Ellery was a loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his children, Ernest (Angela) Burgess of Henlawson, WV, Matthew (Rosetta June) Burgess and June Marie Burgess all of Holden, WV, and Becky Burgess of Logan, WV; his grandchildren, Joscelyn (Ricky) Justice, Brittany Burgess, Joseph Burgess, Logan Price, Savannah Burgess, and Patrick Hysell; three brothers, Mike (Gloria) Burgess of Omar, WV, James (Rose) Burgess and Gary Vannatter all of Greer, SC. Additionally, Ellery leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.

To honor Ellery’s wishes, his remains will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. His remains will later be buried in the Burgess-Brown Cemetery at Madison Creek, WV.
