Edward Murphy, Jr., 73, of Baisden, WV, peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021, surround by family at CAMC General Hospital NICU at Charleston, WV, who provided excellent care and dignity.
Born June 2, 1948, at Sharon Heights, WV, he was the beloved son of the late Edward Murphy, Sr., and Clista Stevens Murphy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 35 years, Marilyn Cline Murphy, who passed away on May 9, 2021; two sisters, Joyce Ann Peak and Geraldine Gunnells; three brothers-in-law, Okie Gunnells, Larry Riffe, and Larry Levine; one nephew, Charles Edward Brown; one niece, Michelle Lynn Lowe; and his mother-in-law, Alma Glandon Cline.
Ed was a 1966 graduate of Gilbert High School and graduated from Marshall University in 1976 with a degree in business. After obtaining his business degree, he worked as an accountant in both the Huntington and Gilbert areas. Ed proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1965-1969 and was a Disabled American Veteran. His hobbies included working in his workshop while listening to 60s music, gardening, golfing with his buddies, and riding his Can Am Spyder. Ed also enjoyed breakfast with his buddies at the Justonian Restaurant.
Those left to mourn and remember him fondly are two brothers, Phillip (Sharon) Murphy and Randy (Kathy) Murphy; three sisters, Venida (Richard) Brown, Emma Riffe, and Janice Levine; and a very special friend, whom he loved like a brother, Bill Ellis. Additionally, Ed leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins along with a host of extended family and many friends.
In honor of Ed’s request, he was cremated, and his remains will be buried next to his wife, Marilyn. The family will hold a private celebration of his life.
