Doris Lorene Zappia, 95, of Shepherdstown, WV, formerly of Logan, WV, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

She was born on December 11, 1930, at Accoville, WV, a daughter of the late Elza and Pearlie Spurlock Adkins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Zappia; one son, Humbert Zappia; one sister, Merlene Stone; and one daughter-in-law, Lisa Ellen Zappia.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Doris led a life marked by a remarkable spirit of care, commitment, and hard work. She was a 1950 graduate of Man High School. She also co-owned and operated Modern Shoe Shop in Logan alongside her husband, Albert. Doris was a strong woman of faith and a devout member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Logan. Aside from her professional life, her primary interest was always the well-being of her family. She demonstrated through her actions the power of nurturing and unconditional love. She will long be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family and kindness to others.

Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Harold Zappia; her grandchildren, Daniel Robert Zappia, Allison Marie Zappia, Michael Zappia, Joseph Zappia, and Marie Zappia; one great-grandson, Ira Scott Cooper; and one daughter-in-law, Sandy Zappia. Additionally, Doris leaves behind several nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 20, 2026, at Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.

A graveside service will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV, with Father Biju Paul Parampil officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
