Diana Ruth Murphy, 79, of Mill Creek, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Genesis Valley Center at South Charleston, WV.

She was born August 26, 1945, at Lake, WV, a daughter of the late Lee Denver Carr and Alice Norene Saunders Carr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Okie Edward Murphy; one brother, Terrance Lee Carr; and one sister-in-law, Darlene Carr.

Known for her kind spirit and generous heart, Diana was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She dedicated many years of service to Walmart until her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing. Diana leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and creativity.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tena (David) Sheppard of Chapmanville, WV; one grandson, Anthony David Sheppard of Chapmanville, WV; one sister, Velva (Grady) Varney of Versailles, KY; three brothers, Danny (Mary) Carr of Trinity, NC, Emil “Jim” Carr of Newark, OH, and Randall (Debbie) Carr of Somerset, OH; and three special friends, Roger and Ida Walls, and Linda Risko all of Mill Creek. Additionally, Diana leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV, with Pastor Roscoe Chafin and Rev. Michael Jeffrey officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum at Pecks Mill, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2025, at Evans Funeral Home at Chapmanville, WV.
