Delbert Ray Spry, lovingly known as D-D, of Logan, WV, bid farewell to this wild adventure we call life on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at home, at the age of 50 years.
Born December 13, 1972, at Logan, WV, he was the son of Delbert and Phyllis Stollings Spry.
D-D was the ultimate nature enthusiast, finding his happy place amidst the beauty of the great outdoors, whether it was casting a line, aiming his trusty rifle, or tearing up the trails on four-wheelers or dirt bikes. He lived for the thrill of the chase. This daredevil of a man surely knew how to have fun.
D-D’s wild spirit was tamed by his deep love for his family, his loyal friends, and his furry companion, Daisy. She was his partner in crime. D-D was always up for an adventure with his loved ones, creating memories that will forever warm their hearts.
D-D was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Zack and Alda Spry; his maternal grandparents, Jessie and Lillie B. Stollings; and one great-niece, Sara Jean Damron.
D-D leaves behind a legacy of laughter, and he will be missed by his doting mother, Phyllis J. Spry; his ever-supportive father, Delbert N. Spry; his incredible sisters, Rhonda Spry and Tammy (Fred) Deer; his sons, Steven (Tara) Spry, Derek (Allie) Spry, and Preston Curry; his lively grandchildren, Dylan, Zaiden, Raelynn, Kason, Lillie, Khloe, and Matthew. His mischievous nature lives on through his nieces and nephews who were lucky enough to call him Uncle D-D, Jeremy (Lura) Damron, James Damron, Michael Damron, Faith (Amy) Damron, Darian (Kris) Izeta, Destinee (Shannon Prichard) Spry, and Cierra (Johnathan Diamond) Spry. He also loved and cherished his great-nieces and great-nephews, Katelynn, Joey, Zack, Gracie, ShyLynn, Rylan, Caden, Tylee, Kane, Silas, Dawsyn, Eastyn, Cooper, Jaylin, and Parker. D-D also leaves behind his extended family who loved him dearly. Let’s not forget about his special friends, Bob and Carlene Burgess and Trevor Harden.
To celebrate D-D’s life and bid him a fond farewell, a gathering will be held at Evans Funeral Home at Chapmanville, WV, on Monday, December 4, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., where a funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow the services on Monday at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The team of Evans Funeral Home will ensure that his send-off is as lively as he was, adding their touch of warmth and compassion to support the family during this bittersweet time.
As we say “See ya later” to our loved one, let us remember him with laughter and joy. D-D’s spirit will forever dance in the winds and his love for the great outdoors will continue to inspire us all.
Rest easy, D-D, and may your next adventure be just as thrilling as the ones you left behind.
