David Ronald Dingess Obituary

David Ronald “Country” Dingess, 75, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at CAMC Memorial Hospital at Charleston, WV.

He was born May 4, 1948, at White Oak, a son of the late Henderson and Mabel Stollings Dingess.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Harold Chey Dingess; two brothers, Donald Dingess and Fredrick “Dickie” Dingess; and one best friend, Fred May.

David loved to hunt, and his two passions were deer and turkey hunting. He was a coal miner and also drove a coal truck until an injury which caused him to retire. He was a loving father and never complained about taking care of his children. A United States Army veteran, David proudly served his country. He was an avid NASCAR fan until Dale Earnhardt died and he just couldn’t watch it anymore. He was a family man who loved his family and was very dependable, lending a helping hand to anyone in any way.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Debora Dingess; one daughter, Odessa Dingess of Chapmanville, WV; two sons, Christopher Dingess of Dayton, OH, and Derrick Wells and his family of Chapmanville, WV; five grandchildren, Mahryon Corbett, Laikyn Dingess, Malakye Corbett, Karson Hensley, and Braxton Dingess all of Chapmanville, WV; his best friends, Raven Dingess and Darrell Conley both of Chapmanville, WV; two sisters, Billy Jean Hamlin of Georgia and Linda Welch and her family of Florida; and one very special niece who was like a little sister to him, Connie Christian and her family of Georgia. Additionally, David leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much along with a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2024, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Vivie Marcum officiating.
