David M. Godby, 73, of Melbourne, FL, formerly of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Holmes Regional Medical Center at Melbourne, FL.

He was born March 5, 1950, at Logan, WV, a son of the late Naaman and Virginia Browning Godby.

David was a retired superintendent of Logan County Schools.

David is survived by his wife, Jennifer Enyart Godby; one son, Michael Godby of Melbourne, FL; one brother, Danny (Debbie) Godby of Chapmanville, WV; one brother-in-law, Robert (Susan) Enyart of Quincy, WA; two nieces and seven nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Evans Funeral Home at Chapmanville, WV, with Greg Dalton officiating.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the David Godby Memorial Scholarship Fund at 551 Airport Rd., Chapmanville, WV 25508.
