David Eugene Spencer, 65, of Pecks Mill, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, leaving from Hubbard Hospice House-West in South Charleston, WV.
He was born November 28, 1959, at Logan, WV, a son of the late Emmitt William Spencer and Lillie Mae Stinson Spencer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita Gaylock; two sisters-in-law, Annie Abbott and Jannifer Browning; and one brother-in-law, Tom Scott Adams.
David made his living as a truck driver, having been employed with Walker Machinery for 19 years. Prior to his occupation as a truck driver, he worked as a coal miner for several years as well. His love for the Lord was the cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his daily interactions and inspiring those around him. He was a devoted member of Stevens Chapel for 12 years, where his presence was a testament to his deep and abiding faith. An avid outdoorsman and coon hunter, David found joy in the simplicity of nature and the thrill of the hunt. Yet, above all, it was the time spent with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren, that truly filled his heart with happiness. David will long be remembered as a man of faith, a dedicated and hard worker, and a loving family man. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us, as we remember the light of his presence in our lives.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 20 years, Gladys Spencer; two daughters, Chasity (Arthur) Reeves of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Tonya Stevens of Ethel, WV; one son, Bobby Mendez of Griffithsville, WV; his grandchildren whom he loved and adored, Trey, Jordan, Braiden, Addison, GraceAnn, Matthew, Colton, Gabby, and Willow; six sisters, Lorene Poybon of Ohio, Helen (Charlie) Young of Kentucky, Gail (Wallace) Lambert of Chapmanville, WV, Lynn (Masil) Hensley of Harts, WV, Brenda (Elbow) Williamson of Naugatuck, WV, and Linda Spencer of Cora, WV; five brothers, Joe (Shirley) Spencer of Georgia, Robert Spencer of Ohio, Wayne Spencer of Lake, WV, and Allen (PJ) Spencer and Paul Spencer both of North Carolina; his brothers-in-law, Ronald “Punk” Abbott and Freddie Browning both of Harts, WV; his sister-in-law, Connie Adams of Harts, WV; and a special niece, Mary Dillard of North Carolina.
