Darlene F. Phipps Bailey, 69, of Logan, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 15, 2025.
She was born June 18, 1955, at Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Alfred and Lillie McColgan Phipps.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Bailey.
Darlene was employed with the West Virginia Department of Health & Human Resources for 23 years until her retirement, where she was known for her unwavering commitment to helping others find their vocational calling. An avid crocheter, she often created beautiful scarves that she generously gifted to friends, family, and even strangers. She was a longtime member of West Logan Church. Darlene also had a passion for singing. She touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of love and selflessness. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those who carry her memory in their hearts.
Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Allen P. (Felicia) Bailey of Logan, WV; one daughter, Jimi L. Bailey of Richmond, KY; two brothers, Bret A. (Sandy) Phipps of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Dennis P. (Jennifer) Phipps of Belington, WV; three nephews, Robert (Tia) Phipps, William (Micah) Phipps, and Simon Phipps; and one niece, Sarah (Ryan) Hart. Additionally, Darlene leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Friday, March 21, 2025, at West Logan Church with Pastor Scotty Dingess officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
To honor Darlene’s wishes, her remains will be cremated.
