Daniel Eugene Scites, Sr. Obituary

Daniel Eugene Scites, Sr., entered his heavenly home on February 12, 2025.

He was born April 24, 1948, in Logan, West Virginia, to the late Annie Marie and Theodore Roosevelt Scites, Sr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Crane and Brenda Atkins; and his brother, James “Teddy” Scites.

He was a member of West Logan Baptist Church and was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, having served in South Korea.

He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Patricia Ann Scites, and his children, Jeannie (Kevin) Scheller, Stephanie (Everett) Maynard, Daniel (Christy) Scites, Jr., Jennifer (Matt) Adams, and Jaime Scites. He was so proud of his grandchildren, Daniel (Tabby) Scheller, Jessica (Will) Horowitz, Aaron Scheller, Patrick (Kenzie) Scites, Ethan Scheller, Kristen Scites, Kaitlynn Scheller, Matthew Adams, and Victoria Maynard. Also left to cherish his memory are his six great-grandchildren; his brother, Theodore “Sonny” Scites, Jr.; his fur baby, “Baby,” and a large host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and his church family.

Whether you knew him as Gene, Dan, or Daniel, he truly never met a stranger. He loved Jesus, animals, fishing, classic cars, and food. He was a devoted family man, and although our hearts are shattered at the loss of our patriarch, we are comforted that he is at peace in the arms of our Savior. We look forward to the day we are all reunited in Heaven.

Services will be conducted at Evans Funeral Home in Chapmanville with Keith E. McClung officiating. Visitation will be Monday, February 17, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and the funeral will be Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.

Interment will take place at the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar, West Virginia, on Friday, February 21, 2025, where Military Honors will also be observed.

Revelation 21:4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
