Claude Allen May

Claude Allen May, 97, of Whitman, WV, departed this life on Sunday, November 21, 2021, from Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, WV.

Born August 14, 1924, at Boone County, WV, he was the beloved son of the late Willard and Ethel Ferguson May.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sylvia Lois May; one daughter, Sandra L. May; and three sons, Dallas G. May, Ricky A. May, and Jimmy L. Lovejoy.

Claude was a devoted worker and was very proud of his work with the WV Department of Highways. He was a devout Christian and attended the Monahill Memorial Freewill Baptist Church. Claude loved watching sports and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan. A loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Claude was devoted to his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are three sons, Claude R. (Beth) May of Wilkinson, WV, Ronnie D. May of Shamrock, WV, and John W. (Regina) May of Holden, WV; five daughters, Rosetta (Jimmy) Stacy of Whitman, WV, Joann Ellis of Holden, WV, Charlotte (James) Tabor of Summersville, WV, Donna G. (David) Justice of Switzer, WV, and Sue (Junior) Hall of Whitman, WV; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Additionally, Claude also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Miller Cemetery at Sweetland, WV.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Chapmanville, WV.
