Christine G. Browning

Christine G. Browning, 74, of Fairmont, WV, formerly of Chapmanville, WV, went home to be with Lord on Saturday, October 14, 2023.

Born March 29, 1949, at Logan, WV, she was the daughter of the late Donald C. Johnson and Thelma Sparks Johnson Maynard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Christopher A. Browning.

Christine was an honor student at Chapmanville High School, Bluefield State College, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1994 from Marshall University with a master’s degree in education. She retired in June 2010 from Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College after working almost 27 years.

She was a member and the publicity/recording secretary of the Logan County Genealogical Society of Logan, WV, for many years before moving to Fairmont in 2018. She loved researching her ancestors as a hobby. She enjoyed growing flowers and gardening, and she also earned her Master Gardener certification. Christine was a Christian and a member of the Fountain of Life Worship Center at Danville, WV, before moving to Fairmont.

Survivors include one daughter, Jodi (Chris) Greene of Brandywine, WV; one son, Matthew E. (Mandi) Browning of Fairmont, WV; granddaughters, Ashley Greene of Brandywine, WV, Amy (Jared) Armstrong of Bridegwater, VA, and Kristin (Spencer) Morrison of Fulks Run, VA; great-grandchildren, Lainey Rose Morrison of Fulks Run, VA, and Atlas Grey Armstrong of Bridegwater, VA; and one sister, Donna Estep of Chapmanville, WV. Additional survivors include various nieces and cousins along with a host of extended family and friends.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2023, at the Forest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum at Pecks Mill, WV.

Following the services, she will be lovingly laid to rest beside her son, Christopher, at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
