Charley “Andy” Hall, 92, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life Tuesday, May 16, 2023, with his loving family by his side.
He was born March 16, 1931, to the late Tolbert Hall, Sr., and Junie Hensley Hall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Helen Mullins Hall; three brothers, Hiram Hall, Tolbert Hall, Jr., and Millard Hall; and two sisters, Hollean Hall and Pauline Adams Peters.
Mr. Hall was a retired coal miner from Island Creek Coal Company after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Rocky Hill Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a trustee. He was also a member of Aracoma #99 A.F. & A.M. Lodge at Logan, WV, and a Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason. Mr. Hall also served in the United States Marine Corps.
Papaw enjoyed working in the garden raising the food he and Mamaw grew, and spending time at the farm raising his cattle, and he especially cherished his time with his great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Karan (Terry) Elkins of Chapmanville, WV; his son, Charles Hall of Ripley, WV; his precious grandchildren: Terry Brent (Kristina) Elkins, Breona Keener, Cassondra (Bill) Collins, Kelli Elkins (Curt Frye), and Brandon (Whitney) Hall; his precious great-grandchildren: Arabella Collins, Addison Elkins, Allisyn Elkins, Benjamin Elkins, Kolton Pennington, Reina Keener, and Copelan Frye; three sisters, Bitha Collins, Junie Mae Price, and Ruthie Mae Lucas; one brother, Amos (Florence) Hall; and a special friend and caregiver, Helen Farmer. Additionally, Charley leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2023, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Terry Elkins and Rev. Jeff Fleming officiating.
Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Chapmanville, WV, where Military Graveside Rites and Masonic Graveside Rites will be conducted. Pallbearers will be: Terry Brent Elkins, Curt Frye, Alan Browning, Bill Collins, Brandon Hall, and Benjamin Elkins. Honorary pallbearers will be: Pete Lewis, Dustin Lewis, Mike Farley, Colton Farley, Tommy Kirk, Mike Dingess, Roy Lamb, and Jimmy Ferguson.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Logan Regional Medical Center 5th floor staff, Dignity Home Health & Hospice, Coalfield Rural Health Center, as well as their Rocky Hill Church family for their thoughts and prayers over the past few weeks. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Papaw’s special friend and caregiver, Helen Farmer, for the love and compassion she has shown to Papaw over the past couple of months.
