Charles “Ray Ray” Sutherland, 61, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House at Huntington, WV.

He was born July 5, 1963, at Chillicothe, MO, a son of the late Charles Everett and Donna Ray Barrett Sutherland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Debra McCracken, Janette Jones, and Nancy Sutherland.

Ray was a skilled mechanic and salesman, known for his meticulous attention to detail. He was a true family man at his core, cherishing every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. The role of "Papaw" was the one he held most dear. Ray’s biggest passion was helping others, which was a testament to his big heart. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless lives he touched.

Ray is survived by his children, McKinsey Ray Britton, Cindy (Justin) Marcum, Savannah (Trenity Maynard) Sutherland, and Nicholas Sutherland; his grandchildren, Shaelynn Marcum, Maylee Marcum, Walker Marcum, Maxine Marcum, Miles Maynard, and Amelia Maynard; two brothers, Roger (Norma) Sutherland and Michael (Rachel) Sutherland; two very dear friends, Keith “French Fry” Riffe and Jerry “Biggin” Steele. Additionally, Ray leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.

To honor Ray’s wishes, his remains will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date at Shining Light United Baptist Church at Chapmanville, WV.
