Charles Ray Adkins, 43, of Chapmanville, West Virginia, passed away at home on Sunday, March 3rd, 2024.


Born March 2nd, 1981, and raised in Chapmanville, WV, where he grew up to attend Chapmanville High School, where he embraced the spirit of the Chapmanville Tigers. He loved playing baseball for the Tigers and was known for his height and agility on the basketball court. His basketball skills were developed with the help of an exceptional coach, Coach Danny Godby, who also coined the well-known nickname of P-Vine.


After his time at Chapmanville High School, Charles embarked on a remarkable journey of self-discovery and learning. A self-taught computer expert, he honed his skills in coding and video game development, ultimately becoming known for his innovative creations that captivated audiences online.


In addition to his technological pursuits, Charles was a skilled carpenter and a diligent coal miner in the southern coalfields for many years. His hard work and determination were a testament to his ability to take on manual labor jobs.


Beyond his professional endeavors, Charles cherished spending time with his loved ones. He was a devoted father, son, brother, and friend whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him. Charles was also a proud uncle, leaving behind his loved nieces and nephews: Alicea, Ethan and Kelcie Boggess, Scarlett Salyers, and Westin Adkins.


He will be deeply missed by his children, Charles Ray Adkins Jr., Robert Anthony Adkins, Benjamin Thomas Adkins, and Jasmine Selena Adkins, of Logan, WV; his parents, Raye Ann Hensley of Sharps Chapel, TN and Anthony Ray Adkins of Chapmanville, WV, the mother of his four beautiful children, Robin Ward of Logan, WV; his siblings, Tashina (Joseph Wiley) Adkins of Huntington, WV, Dustin (Mandy Robinette) Adkins of Hurricane, WV, Sharelle (Michael Salyers) Adkins of Chapmanville, WV, and Clifford (Lisa) Adkins of Sterling, VA, along with a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles.


In his passing, Charles joins his maternal grandparents, Dot and Charles Smith; great-grandparents, Simon and Millie Hensley; several special great-aunts and uncles; paternal grandparents, Georgia and Clifford Adkins; great-grandparents Blanche and Wootson Thompson, Mae and Elwyn Parsons, Aunt Lola Mae Frye; Uncle Steve Adkins; and a special cousin, Brennan Frye.


A visitation to celebrate Charles's life will be held on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, from 1 pm to 2 pm, at Evans Funeral Home in Chapmanville, WV, with funeral services beginning at 2 pm with Pastor Timothy Williams officiating. Graveside services for the family at Highland Memory Gardens will be held at a later date.


Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
