Charles Edward Thomas, Jr., 64, of Chapmanville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 1, 2024, leaving from his residence, surrounded by his family.
He was born May 30, 1959, at West Hamlin, WV, a son of the late Charles Edward Thomas, Sr., and Edith Marie Dingess Thomas.
Charles made his living as a coal miner. He was a devout Christian and a devoted member of the Fountain of Life Worship Center for many years. An avid outdoorsman, Charles was also a longtime member of the National Rifle Association. His love for the outdoors was most evident in the time he spent with his family at his barn. Among his other hobbies was trail riding and target shooting with his best buddy, Adam. His memory will be treasured and kept alive in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lorraine Thomas; one sister, JoAnn (Willard) Horton; two brothers, Rickey (Linda) Thomas and Scottie (Lisia) Thomas; his stepchildren, Melissa (Joe) Price, Greg Stonoff, II, and Sara (Steve) Thompson; his grandchildren, Madalyn Humphrey, Sam Humphrey, Leah Humphrey, Chasity Reitan, Adam Thompson, and Steven Thompson. Additionally, Charles leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his brother-in-law, Willard Horton, for all of his help.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV, with Pastor Mick Frye and Rev. Harry Dingess officiating.
Burial will follow in the Manns Cemetery at Harts, WV. Pallbearers will be Rickey Thomas, Scottie Thomas, Jeremy Horton, Rickey Lee Thomas, Adam Thompson, and Steven Thompson.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Evans Funeral Home at Chapmanville, WV.
