Charles E. “Buck” Mangus, 81 of Harts, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington.
Born February 15, 1941, at Charleston, WV, he was the son of the late Okey Mangus and Sada Tyler Oxley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Wanda Mangus; two sisters, Delores and Dortha; two brothers, James and Tom; and a great-grandson, Dylan Lee.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Charles (Mary) Mangus and Kieth Mangus; one daughter, Sherry (John) Toney; seven grandchildren, Ruben (Brianna) Mangus, Michele (Randall) Mangus, Marissa (Kenny) Bias, Patterson Workman, Leann (Kirsten) Mangus, Sada (Tirrell) Workman, and Garrett (Clarissa) Shelton; eight great-grandchildren, Marcus, Jaxon, Roman, Brayden, Parker, Preston, Kairi, and Oaklynn; one sister, Diana Roberts; and one brother, Bill Oxley.
Buck loved to spend time with his family watching sports, especially his Cleveland Browns, fishing, and sharing memories of his life. Nothing brought a smile to his face quicker than having the house full of family and being able to laugh and make memories with them. His grandchildren, all of them, were his world. His sense of humor was one of a kind, and everywhere he went there was laughter to be heard.
The family would like to give a special Thank You to the hospice house and their staff. During such a difficult time, they were always available and comforting, and they made this transition more bearable for the family. There are no words to express the gratitude the family has for those who were able to make him comfortable in these last few days.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2022, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville.
Burial will follow in the Pack Cemetery at Atenville. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
